ਸਖੀ ਆਉ ਸਖੀ ਵਸਿ ਆਉ ਸਖੀ, ਅਸੀ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਹ ॥

Join us, dear friends, as we unite in song and celebration of the Beloved.

Guru Sahib recognized the power of music and bestowed us with the invaluable gift of Kirtan - a creative & emotional gateway to divine connection.  The genius of Guruji to impart this musical treasure through collective singing (Sangat) is unparalleled and remarkable.

Gaavani is dedicated to celebrating the voice and spirit of the female through her musical journey with the Shabad Guru. Our annual program serves as a stage for both local talents and globally renowned kirtaniyas to share their talents and honor their unwavering devotion to Kirtan. To foster a deeper connection with the Guru's teachings within the sangat, we seamlessly weave shabad vichaar in both English and Punjabi throughout the event.

Sikh Music and the Female Voice in Gurbani

Devotional Sikh music is a potent means of self-realization that has a profound effect on our spirit. Guru Nanak Sahib has gifted us with the perfect combination of divine, poetic wisdom coupled with music and rhythm to guide us on a journey of reflection and inner sovereignty.

Reaching the unconscious is to reach the innermost self, guiding us toward an exploration of the limitless facets of Ik Onkar. The female voice, when imbued with the radiance of the Shabad, has a profound impact - singing the praises of the Beloved and reveling in the Oneness of the Divine, the female voice creates a space for the opening of hearts, transcending barriers and deep connection.

The main goal

is to promote Kirtan as a contemporary choice for a Sikh way of life and to provide unwavering support to female kirtaniyas in their journey. We believe that the profound musical journey of Gurbani should be accessible to everyone. With this conviction, we are delighted to introduce Gaavani, a Kirtan darbar highlighting the female voice and expression.
